WHS Management for Chemical Manufacturing

Chemical manufacturing demands the highest standard of process safety, exposure control, and emergency planning.

Chemical manufacturing involves the synthesis, blending, formulation, and packaging of industrial and consumer chemicals. Workers face a wide range of acute and chronic health hazards from exposure to raw materials, intermediates, finished products, and byproducts. Process safety management is essential to prevent catastrophic events such as chemical releases, fires, and explosions. The incoming WEL reductions for formaldehyde, isocyanates, and numerous other substances will require many chemical manufacturers to upgrade their ventilation systems and monitoring programs. Confined space entry into reaction vessels, storage tanks, and process equipment adds high-consequence risks that demand rigorous permit and rescue procedures.
